Assalamoalaikum Mufti Saab. I am an Indian working in Dubai. Few days back i met a guy while going back to my home from office, he told me that he is from some madarsa in Pakistan and are doing khidmat of deen there he was in Dubai on visit and wanted me to give some sadaqa for madarsa. I didnt had enough cash at the moment so i told him that i'll give you later if we meet, he took my contact no. But later when he called me i came to know that he is not from Ahlul Haq and may be from the Bidati's. My question is can i still give him money as Sadaqa since i promised him or i should refrain giving money to such people. JazakAllah

It is not incumbent for you to fulfill this promise. You should not give charity to groups that are not on the truth. However, you should repent to Allah for making a promise which you couldn’t fulfill.
