Questions on Islam

 1)      Lets say someone accepts all the sahih (authentic) hadiths (regardless of if it is in bukari, muslim, tirmidi or any other hadith book). As long as it is mentioned sahih by a scholar he accepts it. But what if the same person rejects some of the authentic hadiths out of his own desire, in that case does he goes outside the fold of the islam? Will he get any reward from God? (but the same person says about the rejecting hadiths: if prophet Muhammad would say to him directly in his presence, he would accept it).

 2)      Lets say someone believe in all the verses of Quran. The same person understands some of the verses of the Quran. What if same person out of his own desire, he rejects whatever he understands from some of the verses and says Only Allah knows best of the meaning of these verses and also says that if prophet Muhammad would explain the meaning of this verses in front of him, he would accept it. Does this person goes outside of islam? Will he get any reward from God?

 3)      Lets say someone believe in all the verses of Quran. But out of his own desire, the same person accepts tafsir ibn kathir ( or some other scholar’s comments) for some verses, but for other verses he does not accept tafsir ibn kathir. The person says, only Allah knows the best of the meaning of these verses. The person also says, he would accept the comments on those verses (that he rejected from tafsir ibn kathir) if the commentary was given by Prophet Muhammad in front of him. Does he goes outside of islam?

 4)      Lets say someone believe in all the verses of Quran. But out of his own desire, the same person accepts tafsir ibn kathir for some verses, but for other verses he does not accept tafsir ibn kathir. He accepts commentary of some other scholars for those other verses out of his own desire.  Does he goes outside of islam? Will he get any reward from God?

 5)      One of the Islamic scholar said, the regular Muslims (non-scholars) can apply 5 Islamic legal maxims in their daily life (Intention…., harm…, doubt…, custom…., hardship…). My question is: as a regular muslim (non-scholar), can I apply these five principles in my daily life. Also, as a regular muslim (non-scholar), can I study a little bit depth of this 5 legal maxims (such as additional maxims which come under this five maxims) and apply those additional maxims in my daily life? Will I be rewarded from God by doing this?

Imam Mahdi

Assalamualaikum wa rahmatullahi wa barakatuhu.

I hope this reaches you in the best of health and iman.

I wanted to ask about a hadith regarding imam mahdi;

"On doomsday, a man who is carrying the name of an animal ascends to the throne, after which a man named Abdullah comes to the power. Whoever informs me of his death, I will inform him of the rise [of Mahdi]. After Abdullah passes away, for several days and months, the government will appear” (Ghaybat Al-Tusi).

Is this hadith accurate?

Planning with respect to Worldly things.

As-Salamualekum,

I would like to know if it is Islamically allowed to plan for worldly things for the next 5-10 years. Example career-wise, business, purchasing a house, living in a country, etc..

Is there any reference from the life of Prophet Muhammed (SAW) about planning things with respect to worldly affairs. Is this is a Sunnah?

Please clarify.

Animal Rights

Since i am a muslim, and in our religon it is thought that if we give charity in  any form or way, it makes the clamities that come upon us go away. Also our religon says that if we want to make the sicknesses, that ruin your body, go away then we should give meat in charity since our body is made up of mostly meat. The reason i threw the meat in the water was so the fish and underwater creatures could eat the meat and pray for me to god, and so i can get the reward, which can make me cure from the sicknesses.

  2. If not, can you complete the number rounds left?

  4. Cleanliness after Foreplay

Assalam Alay Kum Mufti Sahab,

Hope you are doing good. I have couple of question that am looking answers for.
I would be really grateful, if you can answer those for me.

1. am a woman who recently got married. During foreplay with my husband, I feel wetness in my Vagina. My question is, do I have to make Ghusl before offering any Salah after the wetness or just Wudu is fine?

2. My parents live abroad and my only younger brother who is unmarried lives in the same city. Before marriage my brother and I used to live in the same house. Now I asked my husband to allow me to visit my brother so I can stay at his place over night. He said it is unislamic, and the shariah doesn't allow this. I feel islam does not prohibit me from staying at my brother's place? Please can you clarify my doubt based on quran and Sunnah?

Knowledge Questions Maslak Al-Shaf'ai
Asalamalikum Sheikh,
I’m a shafai imam follower. I have few Questions.

1)      At what time fajar namaz Qaza time starts or at what time fajar namaz time ends in morning?

2)      Correct me if I’m wrong, the procedure for sajda e sahw by shafai imam is, in last rakath after tashahud and then direct salam without reciting durud and any dua.
So the Question is what if I make a mistake in sajd e sahw, most of the time I get doubts that whether I did 2 sajda or 1 of sajda e sahw or did I recited sajda e sahw tasbeeh 2, 3, 4 times. Basically if I make any mistake in sajda e sahw do I need to repeat the namaz?

3)      What is the correct tasbeeh for sajda e sahw by shafai imam
a)      Subhana MANNLA yanamu wal yashu
b)      Subhana MAALA yanamu wal yashu
c)       Subhana rabiyal aala wabi hamdihi

4)      Can I make wadu on socks if I made wadu before wearing it? Means just I need to do masa 3 times

5)      I read Ayatal kursi, last aayat of suratul Baqra, last 3 khul and do some zikr before going to sleep, can I do this after isha prayer in masjid and when sleeping just make dua and sleep.

Thanks,

Name Change After Reverting to Islam

Assalaam O Alaikum,

Alhamdulliah, I am a reverted sister. My question is regarding name change
I want to know what is the ruling as per shariyah regarding changing one's name upon accepting Islam. Is it mandatory to change name to arabic one? My birth name does not involve any shirk, has good meaning and does not disrespect Allah swt or Islam. I have chosen to be called Ayesha by my family and new acquaintances following reversion and i am very happy about it. But I wish to keep my birth name on official documents only. Is that permissible?
Also, I wanted to know whether, upon marriage, woman is supposed to take husband's name as he middle name and husband's last name as her last name? As per Shariah, is this practice acceptable?
Jazaakallah for taking time to answer my question.
I will be obliged to receive prompt reply as this is time sensitive matter.

Father's Rights Over Children After Divorce

Dear Islamic Social Services,

My ex-husband has divorced me three times. He was physically abusive to our children. Our children have disabilities. He has left me and my childen without financial support for more than one year. My eldest child is 19 years old.
My ex-husband has re-married and had one child in the new marriage.

I want to protect my children. My questions are as follows:
1) Does the father have the right to visit the children? I want to prevent his visiting with a protection order.
2) Will the father have custody over the children? I do not want the father to ever have custody of the children.
3) Will the father be accountable for financial support? I need financial support, I can't work because I need to take care of my disable children full-time.

I have received fatwa 9121888 but it has no mention of children's rights or financial support.

Using Tissue Paper Cleaning/Tahara

Assalamualikum Mufti sab

I have a question regarding taharah. When we use washroom we wash our private parts with water. Since my home country is India, that's how I have been taught to do. Now I live in the US. But nowadays people are saying that tahara can also be done using tissue paper.

1. Could you please explain if this is a valid thing? If it is, can it be done anytime or only in certain circumstances?

2.Also, when we use water and get over with the washroom without using tissue paper, the trouser gets wet. Does that make the trouser napaak even though we have cleaned the seat before sitting and washed the private parts thoroughly?

Please clarify these issues, JazakallahKhair

Breaking Oath

Assalam alaikum warahmatullahi wa barakatuhu,

I have a question regarding the oath. A person took an oath on Allah SWT for not watching immoral na-mahram(pictures/videos) on internet and if he does then he will give a particular amount in sadaqa every time he does it. Now after sometime that person realize that he can no longer continue with this commitment and want to come out of this commitment. In this situation, can a person do any of the following things:

Pay the one time kuffarah for breaking the oath and be no longer bonded with this commitment.
Reduce the sadaqa amount if he feels the sadaqa amount was high and continue with this commitment.
Replace the sadaqa amount with something like praying 2 rakat nafl salaat.(meaning offer 2 rakat salat every time he watches the na-mahram pictures/videos)

My question is if It's ok to take it and eat it since it has been presented to their statues first and then to the people ?

However question is that if a male has no sperm, can they borrow some one else sperm for this purpose or this is not allowed?

Hadith Question

Assalamu aleikum "Shariahboard of America"

I have some questions about this hadith "The Muslim is not allowed to abandon a Muslim brother more than three days. If three days pass and he meets him, he should greet him. If he (the other believer) returns his greeting, then they share the reward; but if he does not return it, he (alone) will incur the sin."
1) Is this hadith not only relevant to fellow Muslims whom i normally "have contact" to? For instance if i don't talk to a Muslim, it doesn't mean i abandon him or ignore him, maybe it could be just that I dont have anything in common with that person?
2) I also know Muslims whom i have known for many years, but we dont talk to each other more(not because we hate each other, but we have our own business, and we haven't maintained contact), and we see each other, we don't talk together. Will it in this case islamically be seen as we are abandoning each other, even though we don't have ill feelings toward each other?
3) And lets imagine a scenario where I and a fellow Muslim, argued over some personal things, and we both decided that we would not talk to each other. Then according to this hadith we can be angry at each other for 3 days, and after 3 days, we have to talk to each other again. But what if I am not able to come in contact with this person, because he lives in a another city. And I dont know this person's email or phone number. So will i be sinful in this case, even though, it is not possible to see this person because he lives in a different city, and 3 days will easily pass?
4) What if I for instance have not talked to a brother for 4 monts. Will i still be sinful in this case even though i have forgiven this brother in my heart? And could i then make dua that Allah forgives him? Here I am thinking, by making dua for this person, maybe Allah will cancel out the sin because i pray for this brother.
5) and the final question. If i completely ignore a non-muslim, will it be considered as I am "abandoning" him, because the hadith only refere to a "Muslim brother"?
Please sheikh(s) could you answer these questions for me, I can't get an answer elsewhere I have tried with research on Internet(and so on etc.) but I could not find somewhere where it gives a detailed and deep intepretation of this hadith, so I am very depedent upon you(r). So i hope you will please answer these questions I have, because there is not a sheikh that lives in my city. Please help me.
Thank you, may allah reward you

Expanding Mosque/Masjid

Assalam u alaikum wa rehmatullah

We have an issue here in our community. We live in fisher IN in midwest USA. Since many years we were praying in the only masjid  in our city. But as the community is expanding and more people are moving here it has become hard for people who are far from the old masjid to go there for each salat. Looking at that our community decided to build another mosque closer to our neighborhood and conveniently eight miles away from the first one. Our intention is to provide a facility for the muslims close to us and not to divide the community as some people were driving 15 to 20 minutes to go to that masjid. So if we go for asar its hard to come back and go for maghrib again as well as isha.

In this scenario is it permissible for us to build that masjid?

Secondly some people are saying that we are building masjid darar and we are dividing the community and its sinful to pray in that masjid or to cooperate with it. Is that right?

Jazakallah kahirun

I currently have a situation as I cannot define a cycle of menstruation to regard what is regular, as I have been getting irregular menses from the age of 15.

Some times I get once or twice a year.

The cycles have differed and some what have not got for few years.
I have managed to keep all my fast in the month of ramadaan,
Alhamdullilah.

I was advised that my condition is a sickness and I should, predict on my first concluded cycles of memory.
But I've never had amount of days or Usual dates..

But due to the sickness part of how irregular it is, I should continue fasting and remain in state of whudu at all times, and continue salaah.

Can you please advise on this.
As I have got it for the first time in 1 year and we about to begin fasting

Jazakallah Hu Khair

Menstruation

Assalamu alaykum

My case is that i get my menstrual period quite frequently, usually twice in one month. The number of days is usually 7 days, but the time is not fixed, so i will bleed for 7 days but my period of purity differs. So sometimes i am clean for 12 days, sometimes for 18 days and sometimes for 3 weeks before my next bleeding. Now, some scholars state that the minimum period of purity (clean period) is 15 days, and some say 13 days, so if you start bleeding before this time it is not considered menses, it is istihadah. Scholars have differed, some say the period of purity is 15, some say 13 and some say there is no minimum, rather if the blood has the characteristics of menstrual blood then it is menses, regardless of how much time has passed between it and the previous period.

My personal view is that i am more at peace with the last opinion, because sometimes it happens to me that i have my period, and after 12 or 13 days i start bleeding again, and it has all the characteristics of menstrual blood (dark, thick) and i bleed for the usual 7 days, so i do not think it is istihadah. So i wanted to ask what you think is the most correct opinion, is there a minimum period of purity between menses, or should a woman act based on the characteristics of the blood she sees.

But when mobile fell in toilet ( hole) screen was locked and no images were open.

I have pulled it out and cleaned immediately with water.

Should I continue using my mobile for seeing those quran aayath images in the  mobile is there any sin involved in this. If yes please suggest kaffara for this.

Financially Helping Brother

Asak,

Hope you all are doing good by the mercy of Allah swt. I have some issues with my elder brother.
He is one year older than me and lives in India and I live in USA. He has wife and 2 kids.

I would like to give little bit background of my elder brother, since childhood he never has interest in studies due to this he never got his high level studies done. i think he stopped studying in 10th class. Since then he learned some technical skills. MashaAllah he has good skills in that.

If he get employed with that skills to any construction company in India itself he will easily make 25,000 to 30,000 rupees or more. But due to his own ego and laziness he dont want to work under any other person. as he always said (mein kisi ki ghulami karna nai pasand karton). My father made him to go Dubai but he didn't settled there even.

He does his own things in India and make about 5,000 to 10,000 rupees a month. but this money is not sufficient for his family expenses.

Due to his condition I am helping him in his monthly and major medical expenses.
So I am sending 10,000 rupees every month to him and few years back he got heart attack and I bear all that expenses Alhamdulilah.

The issue is now he is expecting a lot from me . He is saying he wants to come to USA and study whereas he is not at all eligible to study here and he wants me to bear all his study expenses.this is one example and there are may other things he is demanding. My father is also lives with me and he is very sick, now he wants to see him but there main intention to settle down in USA illegally.

They always said "Allah diya help karna support karna". "Bhai ki madat karna farz hai". they also give some Hadiths references. I told them whatever help I can do i am doing it. I too also have other responsibilities. I also have family.

My Questions:

1) Mufti sahab I am confused now. Am I doing anything wrong anywhere, am i not fulfilling the    rights of my brother?

2) Is it obligatory upon me to help them whatever they asked for?

3) What are the things which breaks the ties of Kinship?

4) what Dua should I make to build strong ties?

JazakaAllah Khaier

Watching Haraam

As salaam u alaikum Mufti Sahab,

I am a 40 year old male . My life history has been up and down as far as deen is concerned. I have been falling prey to sins like watching haram and bad thoughts and chatting etc. I do understand that these are bad but somehow fall prey to them. But i also understand that these are bad, i also pray atleast 3  - 5 times a day.

I also have a problem that when i go to bathroom, after instinja , i feel few drops come out after some time. I try to sit in the bathroom for as long as possible but i have developed a work around but covering the private part with tissue and coming out. Later before wudu i wash the private part. Is this an acceptable work around or should i sit and try to take out the last drop?

My major problem is that when i am in salat i do not have khushu and khuzu. Moreover i notice that the persons standing next to me are disturbed due to me in their namaz. I notice clearly that they are feeling uncomfortable and i get this feeling that i am not serious about my namaz. I get this feeling that i do it to show off or to gain worldly benefits.

Please help with these matters asap. Please do not post my name on website

Disability Benefits

Assalam o alakum,

Hope you are in the best of your health.
I am a family medicine doctor and I had stroke 4 yrs ago with recovery where I am able to walk but there is a limp. I couldn't talk at all when I had the stroke and it occurred at age 34. Now mental skills are back but there is weakness on my right side of the body. I am able to walk without any assistance.
I am getting disability income now and I was able to work 4 hrs even after the stroke occurred but my work place gave me early disability retirement.
Is it halal to get paid without working at all?
I will be so grateful to know.

Will wait for your response.
Jazakallah

Cleanliness - Suspicion of Impurity

Assalamu'alaykum

The question laid out in the scenario below is based on my own inability to decipher whether or not the situation that arose is one of waswasa or not, simply because of fear of how to approach the situation if there is a finding of napaaki.  I have suffered from Taharah & other waswasa for over a decade.

Question

I always enter my house toilet with slippers on.

My house toilet when flushed sometimes splashes water out from the toilet bowl and on to the floor.  These drops are only visible on close inspection. I try to clean the floor after finishing from the toilet, but sometimes if I am in a rush for Salah or for work I do not clean the floor.  Therefore drops would have accumulated over a period of time on the toilet floor.  After finishing in the toilet sometimes I make wudhu in the sink next to it and water will land on the same floor.

On Thursday, after finishing in the toilet I exited in to a carpeted room wearing the same slippers that I had used in the toilet.  This would cause any napaaki on the slippers to dry, although may be not fully.  This will depend on how much wetness there was on the toilet floor.  If wudhu was made, then the bottom of the slippers would be more wet than if only the toilet had been used.

After this I walked outside in the same slippers to my car which was a few feet away.  I then drove to Masjid.  After exiting the car I walked around outside in the Masjid car park for over an hour providing security.  The grounds of the car park were, if I recall correctly, partially wet as it had been raining earlier in the day.

After an hour or so and just prior to entering the Masjid, I accidentally
stepped in a muddy puddle of water which caused water to get on to my slippers, through my leather and cotton socks such that the dampness could be felt on my feet.  I was not sure what to do.  I stood outside in the car park and took about 5 minutes to decide my next course of action after which I entered the carpeted lobby area of the Masjid.  Prior to doing so I removed my leather and cotton socks so that the carpet would not become wet.  After this I placed my feet on to the carpet of the lobby area.

However some moisture from my feet did get on to the carpet.  I then walked through the carpeted lobby, through the Masjid (Jamat Khana) and to the wudhu khana where I washed my feet.  Prior to entering the Masjid (Jamat Khana) I tried to carefully place the dry part of my leather socks in the carpeted lobby area as I thought that I do not want to take in to the Jamat Khana potentially napaak socks.  However, a subsequent doubt has arisen as to whether I was careful enough in this respect.

This is compounded by the fact that I forgot my leather socks in the lobby area. When I returned a week later to pick them up, they had been moved in to the Jamat Khana. My inclination is that since they were placed in the lobby late at night, they could only have been moved the next day, several hours later by which time they should have been dry and therefore any impurity on them would not have transferred to the carpet.

My mind is now occupied with the thought, which I cannot shift, which is:

1. Is the carpeted lobby area of the Masjid now napaak and how far does that napaaki extend to?

2.    Does it extend to the Jamat Khana too?

3. What about the carpeted area where I placed my leather socks and the fact that they were subsequently moved to the Jamat Khana?

4. If napaak, how do I address the washing of the carpet with the Masjid committee without bringing humiliation to myself?

The aforementioned worries are consuming my mind and I cannot seem to see a way out.

I know that there would be no visible sign or even possibly smell of napaaki on the carpet.

Taking Payment for Making Dua

As salam ale qum,
Here in our locality we people are habituated to
organise/arrange program of Dual for our own ancestors, or beginning
to live new houses, or businesses etc in our own house or institution
with invited people. People who are invited in those program they have
an (pre)image in their mind that at the time of dual after asking all
the invitee to offer their all aamol(jikir) to represent the dua to
Aalloh.

The aalem/eemam in the dua as the principle of dua first of
all ask for our last & final prophet (Hajrot Muhammad PBUH) to all
other prophet , shaba, siddikin, sohadaeen, saleheen, aayen, gayen,
mostadedeen .............
Last this very person (moto) who arranges the program then the entire
locality (koum).

Now i enter the core problem presently for the last 10/15
years the personal Dua representation are added in the ISLAMIC
INSTITUTION like Masjid, the JAMAT of Id ul fitr, Id Ul Adha & even in
the salah of Masjid. Here the Eemam/aalem are personally paid to
represent the personal dua. Therefore after the Id Ul fitr /Adha or
the larger Jamat the aalem/eemam ask everyone to offer their all aamol
to represent the dua but in the verse/words he inputs personal name.
It is growing the health of aalem/eemam therefore they encourage the
competitiveness among the society. General people to empower locally
paid to urge dua. Now the emam use the list of name at the time of dua
in those jamat where people assembled only because of their
kalema/eeman/Aalloh but all these presence misguided by the eemam.

Black Magic Sahr

As-salamu alaykum

I would like to say Jazakallah for taking the time to read my email. Inshallah with the mercy of Allah SWT I may receive some guidance. Aameen

I don't really know where to begin there is a lot to say and explain. It is a very complex situation but also as difficult as it is I find so much strength in Almighty Allah and Almighty as been my only means of carrying on and I know it is the way it's supposed to be, Subhanallah.

My situation is as follows, I will mention certain aspects of it to give light to it as mentioned there's a lot more.

I embraced Islam 6 years ago upon marriage to my husband. Alhamdullilah. Upon the birth of my now two year old son, we moved into my mother in law (things weren't good there we moved out again, I received much ill treatment from my in laws) during that time I was unaware of my husbands involvement with a married non Muslim co worker of his ( he was fetching and dropping this lady without my knowledge), of which my mother in law knew about (she then once passed a comment around me saying "don't think you can't be replaced as a wife and a mother")  My husband mentioned that he wanted to leave me, I stood firm on not allowing my home to break, through all the conflict that arose from this I became aware of an evil reality. I came to find out that Sihr was and is being done.  It's been almost two years now after finding out, I do believe that it's been more years knowing what I know now, my mother in law has taken my husband to these saahirs whilst we were married some years before my son was born. However, she has been taking him to such people even before we were married.

As mentioned there has been so much that proves to sihr and dealings with saahirs: I was exposed to these saahirs my mother in law deals with, these people have given black strings with knots "taweez", and through my mother in law after I came into contact with this saahir he spoke much bad (as these evil people do) and that I am mentally unstable of which my husband and his family keep saying to me (I've studied psychology Alhamdullilah and I do believe that our blessed deen refers to such evil people as Saahirs and their doings as sihr. Alhamdullilah. As much as I was being convinced that I was imagining all of the bad things and that I was perhaps not mentally stable I refused to give in to it, I continued to plea with my husband and fight for our home and family (I have experienced many symptoms related to sihr)

To date I worry of my husbands involvement due to many reasons. (However, I am in disbelief as I can't believe that any person can be involved in such evil) While at his mums one early morning he brought me a drink I then had a sharp pain on my chest, I fainted and shook on the floor. He managed to recite for me I then woke up. Alhamdullilah. I didn't know what happened to me however I still worry about how my husband witnessed this and then said nothing about it. (He had mentioned wanting to separate while at his mum I wasn't aware of him traveling with this other woman during that time)  We moved into our own place again. I then contacted a sheikh at our local masjid to seek advice regarding my marriage and situation and how to go about it. However, only to find out that this sheikh is actually also a saahir with kufr practices, who asked for mothers names, told me he could give me something to make my husband love me and so forth. This shocked me very much and worries me as I believe many others are being misled into sihr and evil. I then came across a Raaqi and then through Ruqya my husband stated that he agreed that his mum was responsible and aimed at separating us and so on. He part took in ruqya with me and witnessed all through some Ruqya sessions I've experienced fainting etc of which I was told is due to jinn; my husband was present during these times. I've pleaded many a times for us to try to stop all this evil, his story changed many a times I now get told that it's not true and that I'm a liar with a mental problem and that I was making all these lies up, he always tells me that I am delusional. Allah knows best. He has approached my family many times making me look bad and making me a liar about everything. Allah knows best. However, many occurrences still make me question my husbands involvement. Prior to all this I had no knowledge about sihr until learning and reading up about it. Alhamdullilah.

Personally i have no one to turn to in this; The sad reality is I know that the sihr extends to my family. (They had no knowledge about jinn and so forth, I would play Ruqya audio for them and try to provide insight into the Islamic teachings of such) I kept trying to ward all this evil off and fight for our home. it gets very difficult sometimes especially not being able to trust my husband in all this as he still stands against me and calls me a liar, to date I know the sihr continues and make dua against it) I seek guidance as a wife and a mother if this is the case with my home and my family. I know Allah has power over all things I've been placing my trust in Allah SWT and will always continue to do so.

I wish there was more that could be done about this evil as I believe many more people are victim to such. I witness this evil occurring and more people becoming involved in it. Subhanallah through Almightys mercy and our noble Quran there's shifaa and guidance. Allahu Akbar.

I believe that the intention behind this is to get me to leave, shifting all blame on me, making me look like the problem (even going so far as to accuse me of a mental problem especially because sihr is something so hidden) I've been staying away from my in laws and keeping my son after much conflict with them; they've been doing bad things and lying about their actions and trying to break up our home. I refuse to let anyone corrupt my son and his deen or expose him to the way of shaytaan and people who follow him. My husband continues to see his family and to date him and his mother still plan against me.

In essence, there remains much confirmation of sihr on the part of my mother in law and her attempts to break up our home. She refers to these saahirs as "moulana"

As I mentioned I had no prior knowledge about sihr and going to saahirs and using taweez and jinn in order to carry out this evil. I have come to realize that this is the way of my in laws who frequent these evil people. Allah is the greatest and dua is most powerful.

I believe that my in laws are confident in this route that they've taken. Perhaps because in western law sihr etc is not very much understood or recognized. My husband still tells me to pack my bags and go to my family and that I won't keep our son from him; and with my claims about sihr he answers that I am mental and lying. That is why they are labeling me as mentally unstable? Having studied psychology I am aware that the realm of the unseen and jinn etc isn't understood or recognized. Glory be to Allah the most high.

Please provide me with some feedback inshallah aameen

I have been seeking guidance for some time now I'm from South Africa; please help me if possible with regard to my situation and my rights according to Shariah please inshallah Aameen

Thank you for your time

Jazakallah Khair

Carpet Cleaning

Since my message above I hired a machine called rug doctor to wash the carpet in the room.

Water is filled in to the machine. The machine discharges water in to the carpet and sucks it back up in to a separate tank which is then detached from the machine & emptied when it gets full.

At the time of emptying the dirty water from this tank in to the sink, some drops of water will run down the outside of the tank.

This tank is then re-attached to the machine so that it sits above the tank in to which clean water is poured.

When this tank is removed again to empty the dirty water, the bottom of it touches the part of the machine where dirty water drops have settled.

Therefore when this tank is re-attached to the machine after emptying the dirty water, the clean water from the machine does touch the outside of this tank due to the machine being moved around whilst it is being used to clean the carpets.

This is because, as mentioned above, the dirty water tank which collects the dirty water, sits above the tank in to which the clean water is poured.

Therefore when the machine is moved around to clean the carpet, it swishes around and touches the outside part of the dirty water tank which sits above it.

Therefore any dirty water drops which are on the underside of the dirty water tank will inevitably mix with the large volume of water in the clean water tank.

Only after washing the carpet did this issue occur to me.

The carpet in question is at my parents house. There is obviously no smell or visible napaaki on it because dirty water that would have mixed with the clean water will be a a trace amount.

I am under immense pressure.

Do I tell my parents that the carpets need to be re-washed or do I regard it as paak?

I do not know what to do. I am severely perturbed and need definitive guidance.

Is it now paak? Is the carpet safe for them to walk on with wet feet & to perform Salah on? Yes or No. I need an answer quickly as I am all over the place mentally

Controlling Desires

Assalamualikum Warahmatullah Mufti Sahib,

I'm a teenager. I've a huge problem of playing computer games for hours, hence wasting valuable time. Al-Humdulilah, by the Fazal of Allah(SWT) I pray 5 daily prayers, read Qur'an every day, send salawat on the Prophet(SWAS) mostly everyday. I've also made every day schedule so that I can be productive. But, I was only able to follow that schedule for 4 days then something inside me started to urge me to play games when I wasn't suppose to(according to my schedule). I tried controlling it and was able to for a while, but at last I ended up playing the game and breaking my schedule. I'll InShaAllah do what you want me to do in this matter.

I request you to take this case seriously since I'm very depressed.

Jazakallah Mufti Sahib Please make dua for me, too.

Slandering/Gheebat and Buhtan

Asalamualaikum

It is often said if we slander, or backbite a person whether it’s a Muslim, or a non-Muslim, we have to seek their forgiveness in order for Allah to forgive us. I know backbiting, it’s only if they know you backbit them, so the questions below are more in connection with slander.

How would be approach the following, or are we still expected to seek forgiveness we’re confronted with the following dilemmas?

  • If the other person was a non-mahram women?
  • If the other person was an employer, and this would be your job at risk?
  • If the other person was someone you used to talk to on the Internet, and no longer have their contact details?

Jazak’Allah.

Replacing an Ameer

Assalamu'alaykum

In our Masjid the Ameer of the work of Tabligh is rarely present due to personal family issues and his work hours.

Brothers want to take this issue to Markaz and have the Ameer replaced. Is it true that in Shari'ah this is an invalid reason for removing the Ameer?

Nature of Sadaqat

Asalamualaikum Hazrat.

I hope you, your students, and family had a blessed Eid.

I wanted to confirm when one gives da’wah to a friend to any good deed, let’s Umrah for example – 2 years later he performs Umrah, the person who encouraged him does he get a share of the reward, or the entire reward just like the brother who performed the Umrah?

This is something, that generally motivates me for our gasht programs that takes place every weekend!

Inability to offer Tahajjud Salah

Asalamualaikum.

Hazrat, as you know my wife is not able to fast because we recently had a new baby.

Alhamdulillah, she tried her best to get Tahajud in, but there are times when she misses it because of the timetable I follow, where the sehri end time is 1:30am. The reason for this is because she is making my sehri breakfast if you want. In such a situation, is it permissible, if she can follow another Hanafi timetable where the start time for Fajar is about an a hour, or so ahead (2:45am) approx, so she can get Tahajud in.

Or, is it the same principle with fast, where one can only follow one timetable for sehri, and Fajar?

Are the following authentic answers?

  1. Whoever reads Subhanallah 100 times in the morning and 100 times in the evening, will get the reward equal to that person who has performed 100 Hajj.
  2. Whoever reads Alhamdulillah 100 times -will be rewarded as though he has participated in 100 Jihads.

Answer

Both virtues are recorded by Imam Tirmidhi (rahimahullah) in his sunan, Hadith: 3471.

Imam Tirmidhi has graded the Hadith sound (hasan).

Note: The correct translation for second virtue is as follows:

‘Whoever reads Alhamdulillah 100 times in the morning and the evening – will be rewarded as if he has donated 100 horses in the path of Allah.

And Allah Ta’ala Knows best,

Visiting graveyard on Eid day

Assalamu'alaykum

Question:

Visiting graveyard on Eid day

Assalamu'alaykum

It has become habit for people to visit the graveyard on Eid day to the extent that the undeniable perception created is that it is Sunnah. The question is: is it Sunnah?

If it is not Sunnah, and it is subconsciously regarded as such, due to society's perception of it being necessary, would this visitation on Eid day not constitute bid'ah?

Many people do ask their relatives on Eid day: "did you go to the graveyard?" This is an indication that people consider it necessary to do so on Eid day.

They justify this with the rationale that we don't think it's Sunnah, but we habitually go on Eid day to remember the deceased on our happy occasion. This appears to be a contradictory argument in that a habitual practice is regarded as Sunnah.

My understanding is that if something is not Sunnah and is afforded that status due to public perception or considering it necessary, it will constitute bid'ah. Is this correct?

There are the following added complications that should be considered when answering this question please.

(A) Young women do attend the graveyard on Eid day, mostly not in niqab and intermingling with men.

(B) The traffic congestion that Muslims cause on Eid day as they all try to attend the graveyard inconveniences the non Muslims. The childish response to this is that when non Muslims have their events they inconvenience us (which seems to imply Muslims are permitted to behave likewise)

In light of all of the above, please advise if visiting the graveyard on Eid day is Sunnah, Mustahab, bid'ah or impermissible

Details about Different Duroods

Asalamualaikum Hazrat,

A few friends of mine who recite different Duroods that are not from Ahadith, but claim certain pious scholar learnt it from a dream directly from the Prophet (SAW)?

This sit doesn’t well from me? Is it such a thin permissible, and then to teach it to others?

If it is, then if the Prophet (SAW) abrogated something from the shariah, would it be put in place, or considered? If the answer is no because this has to be based on solid evidences, then why is it permissible to permit people to congregate, and engage in group dhikar of a durood, that’s nowhere from the “original” Sunnah.

I’d appreciate your input.

2-      Also, what if the Imam is a Hafiz (without beard) then is he allowed leading the prayer while the people behind him have beards but no Hafiz?

3-      Also, is the Imam required to cover his head while praying?

Correcting Someone

Asalamualaikum.

So, someone who was delivering the “adab e gasht” mentioned this Hadith:

Anas bin Malik (radi Allahu anhu) narrated that Rasul Allah (sal Allahu alaihi wa sallam) said: “To go forth in the morning or evening to fight in the path of Allah is better than the whole world and everything in it.” [The Book of Leadership: Sahih Muslim]

Once finished, I discreetly credited him, and said he should quote the Hadith as much as best possible even if he doesn’t remember it word-for-word. I told him he missed the word “fight”. The one who “fights” in the path of Allah. He hardly disagreed, and rebuked me infront of the entire continent. The Ameer than accused me of stirring fitna.

It was quite embracing, I was going to retaliate, but I just got up quietly, and left.

I have akwys strongly disagreed with Tabligh saathis mis-using these Ahadith even though the meaning of fisabi-lillah can have broader meanings, but this put me off from ghash completely.

My question is, was I right to correct the saathis for mis-quoting the Hadith?

Jazak’Allah.

Asalamualaikum.

Can, you please confirm when did Mu’awiyah (RA) embrace Islam?

I’ve heard he’s among those who accepted at the Conquest of Makkah, and therefore his rank is with the likes of Abu Sufyan (RA), Suhail ibn Amar (RA), Ikrimah ibn Abi Jahal (RA), Safan ibn Umaiyah (RA), and Abu Sufyan (RA).

On the other, I have heard he embraced Islam before the Conquest of Islam, but kept his Iman a secret. So, he’s not among the those who accepted?

Which, is the most authentic view, and what is the source for this? Al-Waqidi?

Permission for not Fasting for an Old and Diabetic Person

Assalam u Alaikum,

I hope this email finds you in the best of health and iman.

My mother is 69 years old and has been a diabetic patient. When she fasts, her sugar levels drop very low sometimes as low as 70-50 which can be very dangerous. She refuses to not fast and refuses to break her fast if it gets too low. Ex. It is 5:30 and her sugar levels has dropped to 70 and her voice has started to shake. I told her to break her fast instead she said she will lay down to minimize movement so her levels don’t drop even more. However, this is not a guarantee. We (her children) tell her that her Lord is not merciless that would require her to fast and tell her she has a responsibility to her body as it belongs to Allah. I have heard from people that if a doctor has said not to fast and it is harmful for her body then it is wrong for her to fast Islamicaly.

Please tell me what she should do? Is it wrong for her to fast in such conditions?

Children Tarbiyat

Assalamuaalaikum,

My husband is a loving and religious man. He is a great dad but is very strict. The thing we conflict on is how strict we are with our child. We have one 3 year old who mashallah for the most part has good aklaq. The moment he says no though my husband is ready to slap him. And today for example we got a cake and since we all share in the same plate i told my son he can have the first bite. My husband snatched the plate from him and yelled no you cant eat first. It always has to be mommy and daddy first. He said this is tarbiyya. He mentioned that once he had  dinner at a muftis house, and that mufti saab told him that it is a part of the sunnah that parents eat first and that your kids ate after everyone else was done eating. I need to find a balance between strictness and kindness. Please help me in this matter. Im so confused as to what is right. I know tarbiyya is important but isnt it also important to be kind and not to punish a kid for every little mistake they made? Is there any hadiths you can give me that have to do with raising children with gentleness? He is only 3 years old and already fears his dad so much. I am afraid that this will make him rebel when he is older.

Haiz and Paaki

Respected Ulama:
I am 16 years old and I've been having haiz problems since I first got haiz at 12. The doctors said it is normal since most people get irregular in the beginning and then later on it gets normal.
I don't know my aadat because of the mas'la in itself being so پیچیدہ.  I am going to write everything that happened since March 14, 2018 until now, April 6, 2019. (I am writing about March 14 because that is when I had more than 15 days of full paaki, so a new haiz and paaki 'aadat starts from there)
I ask for forgiveness for writing so much, but I am really confused and do not know when to shower because I don't know my 'aadat.

Sometimes towards the end of my haiz, I get yellow haiz-like substance, and sometimes yellow "white discharge"-like substance (this is the sticky thick substance like slime). These come inside haiz days and out of haiz days.
Sometimes out of haiz days I get a yellow substance unlike the above two mentioned. It comes on my liner and has tiny dust/hair kind of things (it doesnt come out in that form I think.. I think the dust/tiny hair come after) sometimes this substance has odor.

Start: March 14, 2018
End: March 22, 2018
Start: June 15, 2018
End: June 21, 2018
*Thursday, June 28, 2018 (yellow- one of the first two)
Start: July 18, 2018
End July 27, 2018
*August 1, 2018 (yellow- one of the first two)
Start: August 22, 2018 around 5:30 AM
End: September 1, 2018 around 10 AM
*September 5 (yellow- one of the first two  قسمیں)
*September 19, 2018 (kind of yellow peach)

Please tell me my haiz aadat and paaki aadat and everything I need to know in this mas'la.
جزاك الله خيرا كثيرا
May allah reward you in every لمحہ you use to solve this mas'la. Ameen

Private Part Surgery

Salam alakim wa rahmatallah

Dear brother, I am 20 years old now and I wish to get married in a year or 2. However I struggle with a issue regarding my body. I need to know would it be permissible for me to get a male enhancement surgery before my marriage. I heard from somewhere that it would be permissible if the private area was small where it would be unusable. In my honest opinion I don’t think it’s useable, and potentially can cause issues and unsatisfaction between me and my future wife. I don’t want to cause any problem between me and my wife and I am ashamed of myself already. Can I get this surgery if sexual intercouse would be impossible and unsatisfying for both of us? I only wish to do this  for her and save us both the frustration

Meaning of Ahrar

Assalamua'laikum Mufti sahab

I read and heard a story of hazrat Asma bint Abu Bakr (Radiallahuanha) and his son hazrat Abdullah bin Zubair (Radiallahuanhu), the story is as follows.

Asma replied to her son:

You know better than me your circumstances. But I say to you this: if you know you are upon the truth, go forth and die like your companions; and if you are after this world, then you are the most wretched of men, for you have wasted yourself and those who are with you. And for how long shall you live in this world? And if you are upon the truth, but now that your companions have left you, you have become weak... this is not the action of free men and a man of the deen.
Then he said, "I am afraid I will be mutilated by the people of al-Sham", to which she replied "My son, a slaughtered goat does not feel the pain when it is skinned". He kissed her upon the forehead and said:

I swear by Allah, this is my opinion. I have no desire to live in this world, for my aspiration is the life of the hereafter, and all my life I have stood up for truth. But I wanted to know your opinion so that your opinion strengthens my opinion!
And then his mother said, “Come closer my son!” When he came closer to her, she embraced him and when she did so, she felt that he had some metal armour on. And she said, “O’ my son! What is this? For people who want Shahaadah don’t wear this!” He said, “O’ my mother! I only did this to comfort you!” She said:

My son, take it off. Tie your belt so when you fall, your ‘awrah is not exposed! Fight with bravery for you are the son of Zubayr and the grandson of Abu Bakr and your grandmother was Safiyyah.

I want to ask about the meaning of Her words "this is not the action of free men and a man of the deen"

What is meant by ahrar in her statement, I was moved to read this story and it has impacted my life and the eman of hazrat e Asma Radiallahuanha has shook my faith towards good alhamdulillah

Please tell me the meaning of ahrar in this story (I thought it means free from the shackles of this dunya, its presets & worthless standards).

References for Ahadith

Assalamualaikum Warahmatullahi Wabarakatuhu, Dear Mufti sahab,

I want to know the authentication of below mentioned ahadees, kindly guide me whether they are authentic or not?
1. A Sahabi came to Rasulullah Sallallaho 'Alyhi Wasallam and told him that he had shifted to a new house but since then he started facing many problems such as not seeing barakah in anything. Rasulullah Sallallaho 'Alyhi Wasallam replied that "It is better for you to move back to your previous home." The Sahabi then mentions that he moved back to his old house as per the order of Rasulullah Sallallaho 'Alyhi Wasallam the problems were resolved.

2. Once Rasulullah Sallallaho 'Alyhi Wasallam was walking on the streets of Madinah, he unfortunately saw a young lady, so he went back to his home and had intercourse with one of his wives and then came out.

3. After the demise of Rasulullah Sallallaho 'Alyhi Wasallam, there was a severe drought in Madinah and people were in dire need of water as there was no rain. A person came to mother Aisha RaziAllah Ta'ala 'Anha and complained regarding that. Ammi jaan Aisha RaziAllah Ta'ala 'Anha replied that dig a hole in the grave of Rasulullah Sallallaho 'Alyhi Wasallam and let him face the sky. So the Sahabi did as per her instruction, and the sky started raining as soon as they dig his grave.

Shura Appointed by Hazrat Umar RaziAllah Ta'ala Anhu

Assalamualaikum Warahmatullah Wabarakatuh

Respected Ulama e Kiram, my question is regarding the shura appointed by Hazrat Umar RaziAllah Ta'ala Anhu. What was the purpose of this Shura? Was it to decide a khalifah from among them after Hazrat Umar RaziAllah Ta'ala Anhu or was it to decide and consult in the matters of that Islamic caliphate?
