Fatwa Answer

Question ID: 722 Category: Knowledge
Eating Kosher Meat

Assalam alaikum,

I would like to know what our Ulama say about eating kosher meat (slaughtered by Jews). With all due respect to the Ulama, whether it's permissible or not, I would like to know the ruling with reasons so that I can easily convey it to others.

Jazak Allah.

الجواب وبالله التوفيق

If the Jews (whose slaughtered meat is under question), consider Hazrat Moosa Alyhissalam as the prophet of Allah Subhanahu Wa Ta‘ala, consider Torah as the word of Allah Subhanahu Wa Ta‘ala and take the name of Allah Subhanahu Wa Ta‘ala while performing the slaughter, then there is Shar‘ai gunjaish(i.e. provision for it being permissible) for consuming such meat.

Warning: It is evident in today’s world that majority of the people have national reasons to be known as someone (instead of religious ones). They do not consider Torah as the word of Allah, they do not believe in prophethood, they are not convinced to associate themselves with a religion and they do not believe in God. Therefore it is highly recommended to refrain in matters of such food consumption etc.
