Is cutting of hair permissible for females and if their spouse insists on keeping the hair short, and how much is permissible
Thick and long hair is a source of beauty for women, and cutting it is not permissible. A husband is not to be obeyed in matters that are prohibited by the Shariah. The Prophet ﷺ said:
However, if there is a valid Shar'i necessity—such as cutting the hair for medical treatment, or if the hair has grown so long that it extends below the buttocks and becomes unsightly—then it is permissible to trim only the excessive length.
گھنے اور لمبے بال عورتوں کے لیے باعث زینت ہیں، ان کو کٹوانا جائز نہیں ہے۔ جو چیز شریعت میں ناجائز ہو اس میں شوہر کی اطاعت نہیں، حدیث میں ہے:
”لعن اللہ المتشبہین من الرجال بالنساء والمتشبہات من النساء بالرجال“ (مشکاة)
اور درمختار میں ہے:
قطعت شعر رأسہا أثمت ولعنت، زاد في البزازیة: وإن بإذن الزوج لأنہ لا طاعة لمخلوق في معصیة الخالق إلخ․
البتہ اگر شرعی عذر ہو مثلاً : علاج کی غرض سے بال کٹوانے ہوں یابال اتنے طویل ہوجائیں کہ سرین سے بھی نیچے ہو جائیں اور عیب دار معلوم ہوں تو فقط زائد بالوں کاکاٹناجائز ہوگا۔
