Question
Assalamualaikum,
My question is can a woman touch or hold or recite the Holy Quran during her period days or after having physical relationship with her husband while she has not yet taken shower/bath.
Please tell me in both conditions and also if Holy Quran is wrapped in piece of cloth then can she touch or hold or not.
My wife believes that if the Quran is wrapped in a piece of cloth she can hold and touch as well as she can recite in front of other people if she does not want to disclose to others about her condition.

Answer
بِسْمِ اللهِ الرَّحْمٰنِ الرَّحِيْمِ
الجواب وباللہ التوفیق
It is neither permissible to touch Qura’an nor to read it during menstruation or in the condition of Janabat (after meeting huband or wife and yet not taken the mandatory bath). Nabi S.A.W. has forbidden us from such actions.
لا تقرأ الحائض، ولا الجنب شيئا من القرآن»{سنن ترمذی: باب ما جاء في الجنب والحائض أنهما لا يقرآن القرآن}
أَنَّ فِي الْكِتَابِ الَّذِي كَتَبَهُ رَسُولُ اللهِ لِعَمْرِو بْنِ حَزْمٍ: أَنْ لاَ يَمَسَّ الْقُرَآنَ إِلاَّ طَاهِرٌ{موطامالک:۲۱۹/۶۸۰}
However, one can touch Qura’an through a cloth which in not sticking to the Qura’an.
(ومنها) حرمة مس المصحف لا يجوز لهما وللجنب والمحدث مس المصحف إلا بغلاف متجاف عنه كالخريطة والجلد الغير المشرز لا بما هو متصل به، هو الصحيح. هكذا في الهداية وعليه الفتوى. كذا في الجوهرة النيرة.{فتاوی عالمگیری:الفصل الرابع في أحكام الحيض والنفاس والاستحاضة}
