الجواب وباللہ التوفیق

Provided certain conditions are met, the money earned through YouTube will be considered halal.Those conditions are as follows:

1. There should not be an image of a living being, because there are strict Shariah warnings on the images of living beings.

2. Even if there is a picture of an inanimate object, it should not contain obscenities.

3. It should not contain music and obscenity.

4. Terms of the job contract must comply with Shariah rules.

5. Advertisements deemed illegal per Shariah guidelines should not appear in those videos.

6. Avoid any other non-Shariah compliant and unlawful things.

Earnings by lawful means can be donated, but earnings made through unlawful means must be given in charity but without the intention of reward in the hereafter “Thwaab”. Having said that, it is obvious that nowadays it is difficult to operate a YouTube channel while trying to comply with these conditions. The reason being that YouTube administrations run advertisements for  their own financial gains which may contain non-Shariah compliant displays, so it would be better to avoid earning through such means.

قال اللہ تعالیٰ:  وَلَا تَعَاوَنُوا عَلَى الْإِثْمِ وَالْعُدْوَانِ( سورہ المائدہ)

As mentioned in “Al-Durr Al-Mukhtar”: ’’قال ابن مسعود: صوت اللهو و الغناء ينبت النفاق في القلب كما ينبت الماء النبات. قلت: و في البزازية: استماع صوت الملاهي كضرب قصب و نحوه حرام؛ لقوله عليه الصلاة و السلام: استماع الملاهي معصية، و الجلوس عليها فسق، و التلذذ بها كفر؛ أي بالنعمة.‘‘ (6/ 348 -349، ط:سعيد)

الاستئجار ‌على ‌المعاصي أنه لا يصح لأنه استئجار على منفعة غير مقدورة الاستيفاء شرعا كاستئجار الإنسان للعب واللهو، وكاستئجار المغنية، والنائحة للغناء، والنوح." (كتاب الاجارة، فصل في انواع شرائط ركن الاجارة، ج:4، ص:189)
